I’ve got a wild hair and might go after hogs tomorrow. I just want to get out of the house and maybe take a 1-day break from chasing deer. Should I go to the national forest south of Tuscaloosa, Bankhead, or Mulberry Fork? I don’t mind doing a lot of walking, but if anyone has gotten into them recently, I’d appreciate a point in the right direction.

Did you go? If so, where, and how'd you do?
I've fooled around in the Bankhead a bit, around the Indian Tomb Hollow area, and found it to be sparse. Also dry, really dry. Gillespie creek had no water, at all.

I ended up going to Bankhead for a change of scenery. Didn’t get out there as soon as I had hoped, but did see a buck. Got word that the pig numbers might be down due to trapping. Either way, had s good time.

Either way, had s good time. I have hunted in a club on leased and Gov. land for the last 5 yrs and I have yet to see a hog. We see some sign and get a few night pictures. They have been trapped and hunted pretty hard so what we have is really smart. The boars I have got pictures of are some freaking biguns!
Its not the will to win but the will to prepare to win!

An old boar is as smart or even smarter than an old buck in my opinion.

Either way, had s good time. Hogs in Bankhead are definitely down from just a few years ago. Damn govt trapping them. Personally, I hope they make a recovery...
