It is saturated everywhere. Many of my tracks now are coming from southern TN. You have to track on lead there and not many are willing to do that so there are not so many trackers. We have people up here borrowing dogs to go track. It's crazy!

It was a busy opening day of gun season for us…..We were able to help local hunters recover 4 bucks today….They were pretty much all routine recoveries except for the last one that had to be dispatched. It was somehow still alive 3 hours after the shot with a .243 bullet right behind the front leg lodged in the opposite shoulder.

No luck on recoveries today.....Spent the first part of the morning grid searching for a high fence deer that was possibly hit two days ago.....No sign of anything though.....Went from there to try and finish off a leg shot buck but he didnt want to cooperate for us......Nothing but bone and meat reported by the hunter at the hit site......We got him up out of his bed at about 350 yards but he was a runner from the start......Swam a pond and kept on going until he crossed over onto the neighbors and we called it off......Otis and Ruby got him to check up 2 or 3 times but he would brake and run again about as soon as they'd get him to stop......Coyotes will likely wear him down over the next few days and he'll be yote poop a week from now........

Mainly for CNC and the other trackers on here.. but everyone remember how dangerous this can be and do everything you can to be safe. We was tracking what I think was a brisket shot on a 200+ pound deer yesterday morning. Deer bayed fairly easy about 600 yards from shot sight.. I got about 150 from her and heard her squeal and everything went quiet. The deer had horned her fairly high and about 2 inches in front of her hindquarter. Luckily it just went under the skin about 4 inches and didn’t hit any vitals or spine. We ended up with 4 staples so after they come out we should be good to go. It can happen quicker than you think. Goodluck to everyone and be safe

Glad everything turned out ok..........Otis has always been a very loose bay dog but my other two seem like they're going to be a little more aggressive. I worry about my lab because she seems to want to catch everything

My lab got horned 3 times and now she goes about things a different way. It seems to work for us and saves me lots of energy sometimes.

She used to never be real aggressive with it. I’m not sure if it’s just more experience or what but she has started getting much more aggressive with them last season. Maybe she will learn from this and we won’t have to deal with it again

Recovered a nice 8 pt today…….The track was a little over a 1000 yards but since it was hit low in the guts it ended up being a pretty straight forward run right to it……

I went 2 for 2 last night. First one was a pretty easy one on a doe. She went about 200 yards but didn't bleed a drop until 20 yards before we found her.

2nd one was a leg shot 7pt. Dogs bayed him quick but he broke away a couple times. He was fighting the dogs bad so I put a 44mag in his shoulder. We were all catching our breath and the sucker jumps back up and takes off running up hill. Crazy! Dogs caught him quick and I knifed him after that. Turned out he ran within 50 yards of a trail so it was a easy retrieval atleast.

We just got back from looking for one shot this evening from 300 yards with a .308.......Unfortunately, it appears that the hunters just grazed the buck.....A small spot of blood at the impact site and that was it......Otis followed a trail for a little ways but never really looked like he had much.....We were due for one of those.....We've had pretty good luck so far with getting calls for recoverable deer.

Recovered this buck tonight. Coyotes were chewing on him when Muzz got to him. I was confused when he came back to us. He stayed about 50 yards in front of us till we got about 100 yards away from the deer. He ran in and bayed him, we finished him off and were confused on why his rear end was all blown out looking. Finally realized it was from coyotes eating on him.
