I've been a Chevrolet fan for a long, long time. My current pickup is a 2018 GMC Sierra. It's been okay, not great, and not terrible. The transmission has had a shudder at times, since it was new. Took it back several times, then got the point that they weren't going to do diddly squat about it, so I just drive it.

I don't know what I'll get next, but I'm interested in hearing experiences with Tundra's and Rams.

My brother has a '19 Dodge and it's a really nice truck. I've never been a Dodge fan, but their revamp of the interior is impressive. He's had electrical issues with the truck since it was purchased. It spent over a week in the shop, twice, not long after he bought it because of some wiring problem. I've never driven a Tundra, but like the look. I know they use to be terrible on gas mileage but I think that's better now with the V-6 w/ turbo. Would love to hear your experiences on either.

I have a 2018 Ram Classic 1500 and I love it. It is the best truck I have ever had, period. Mine is a 4x4 and drives and handles like a sport truck with plenty of power. And I have the V6 with 305 horsepower. I can get as much as 21 mpg on the highway.

I've never been a Dodge fan, because if the transmission in another Dodge truck, however the transmission in this Ram is an 8 speed ZF German designed transmission and it's almost like it reads my mind regarding what gear it should be in all the time. It will even downshift when you are going into a turn like you would in a manual transmission sports car.

I have 80k miles on it now and the only issue I have had with it is the Android Auto and the "Ghost Touches" on the screen, other than that it has been rock solid.

I have no knowledge on the Tundra.

I love my Tundra. The Tundra replaced my Chevy and it was a great decision. Crap fuel mileage but I do not care at all, at least I don’t have to fix something constantly.

I’m interested in this thread. I’m a Chevy fan for sure, never been a Dodge fan, and the newer Fords hurt my back.
I drive a 2500 HD for work, but definitely interested in a Toyota or Nissan for a hunting truck. Not hijacking your thread, and I have heard nothing but great things about yota’s all my life. If they Toyota’s are what everyone says they are, I’ll consider going that route for work and hunting truck. One in large and small.

The Tundra is a great truck, that damn 5.7 will run forever and drink plenty of gas doing it. Mines having some error BS codes right now because the EVAP / O2 stuff but that’s about to be rectified for $450 and 5 minutes on installing the new part. Gas, brakes and oil changes 95% of Toyotas upkeep. I’d say that’s pretty good. The older 4.6 in the first gen Tundras are a great motor too. Just keep an eye on that timing belt every 100,000 ish and do it. That’s around a grand..I’ve seen Sequoias with 200,000 plus on the original belt too so, fwiw.

I worked with a fleet of rams…i will never own a gas burning ram..ever. That was 2012-15…i know the year models after that have afm issues…buddy of mine has them in his shop pretty regular..that bein said he had more gm stuff for that issue. I drove a 2018 f150 for work for 2 years and i reallh liked the truck..but the motor burnt 2.5 quarts of oil every 1200-1500 miles…the transmission finally imploded at 99k miles..it was a 5.0 v8. Im a big fan of a ram with a cummins..just a whole different level of truck. I know nothing about these new tundras..im a die hard toyota fan..an i always will be..but..they are too new to me..even the 5.7L v8 had some issues in the beginning…id love to have a late model gen 2 crew max with the 5.7.

I have 23k miles on my ‘22 TTv6 tundra. I previously owned a 5.7 Tundra that never had an issue. The new tundra is by far a better driver. Much better mpg, improved ride, less noise, more creature comforts, etc…. That said and bc of all that I originally missed the truck “feel”. However, the more I’ve driven it the more I’ve come to appreciate it. The new truck pulls better also, if that is important to you. I haven’t had any issues with mine outside of factory recalls and mine is early production haven taken delivery in January 22.

I don’t do much city driving, but I average 19-20 mpg nearly every tank. I’ve seen over 22 mpg on a couple of long (4 hour) backroad trips. Mine is a bone stock 4x4 crewmax. On paper the hp is similar, but the turbo makes a good bit more torque. Also has a 10 speed transmission that helps in both mpg and towing.

ihave never owned a Chevy Truck, but my 2007 Toyota Engine finally died at 299,000 miles.

I bought it for $22k with 92,000 miles on it and drove it for 10 years. I am struggling to find one to replace it. I will not buy one built after 2021 because I love that 5.7 engine.

It is nothing fancy with gadgets and such - it is just a great engine and a joy to drive.

I was seein pretty decent deals on gen 2 trucks…made me re consider all the work im doin on my gen 1

Driving a 2013 Tundra 4X4 with 327,000 miles on it. Oil and filter changes, brake pads and a pcv valve at 230, 000 is all I've done.(4.6 engine, 18-19 mpg). With the prices of current trucks I hope Toyota can do a commercial one day. LOL

Last i looked ram was highest rated full size

Tundra was for long time - i hear their gas
Milage is what was holding them back to b higher rated now - toyota has satisfied me lot w my tacoma and my parents camery over the years

My first chevy did real good - mine started shuttering at the end. Just heard chevy has had some trouble with transmissions and i hear mine was basically shot in one i just sold

If the Toyota salesman would not hav been such sucky salesman decent chance i would hav bought one

I’ve got a 23 tundra and love it. Get 17-18 mpg in city and 21ish on highways. I wouldn’t get a 22 due to new model with a few problems which is why I went with the 23 and based off what I’ve seen in addition to mine, everyone loves their 23. Drives great and have a ton of room. I’d be happy to answer any questions you have as I plan Lord willing on driving this thing for 15 plus years

Comparing a Toyota to a Ram is like comparing a diamond to a turd IMO.

One thing that you don't hear about Toyota like you do with other brands: "Yeah, just stay away from production years **** - **** and the **** motors". Toyota makes good stuff CONSISTENTLY across all years and models.
