Definitively prove, without any doubt and not anecdotally, that decoys negatively impact the resource.
I'd bet there is no data, other than estimated harvest totals, that would or could prove it for our state. Maybe for any state, even with tags and check-in.
If any data definitely, and not "aw, you know it does" proves it's a detriment, fine. Have the discussion. Let's see the data and proof. Otherwise it's just coffee talk. Or worse, the "well, we might as well do something to see if it helps!"
I have heard that there is some data indicating that birds shot over decoys have higher fertility rates than other harvested gobblers. Havent seen the paper yet.
Just hunt and fish and leave everyone else alone.
I like to hunt them year around, over bait, hens or gobblers (poults in summer) as many as I want. Should I just be left alone? Spot on. Also turkey limit should be dropped to one bird. Wait….WHAT!?!?!?! One bird? Why even hunt at all It makes sense. Helps the turkey population recover and is incentive for the serious turkey hunters to be selective and appreciate one good bird. It actually makes no sense and does NOTHING to help the population. I am selective on each one I shoot and definitely appreciate each and every one.

I swear by my life and my love of it that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine
