I had a Dark and Stormy the other night that was really good. It was kraken and a ginger ale beer if I recall correctly A good friend is into sipping tequilas and we’ll have some expensive stuff occasionally. It’s a game changer compared to the old tequilas of yesteryear. I wished I had a dollar for every tequila pop consumed in the old days. 😂 Another good friend is into martinis and I can see that happening I’m more of a whiskey on the rocks guy but I heck why not right

Is this a "Holiday Drink" thread or a "what I like to drink on a regular basis" thread?

I like an Old Fashioned.
Wild Turkey 101 Teaspoon of sugar Toasted orange peel twist Ice Angostura bitters
Dissolve sugar in bottom of a short glass with a little warm water. Add ice. Toast the orange twist with a match. Rub twist around rim and throw in the glass. Add Burbon and a few dashes of bitters. Stir.
Classic cocktail at its finest. Old fashioned is my favorite too but I use Jim and agave sweetener. keep it made up in a qt. jar in fridge - its like my mom's fermenting mixed fruit she kept in a jar on the counter in the 70's , just gets better the longer it marinates. wife likes hers with a couple cherries

Coquito is one of my all time favorites. I think I 1st heard about it on here. Is that the Puerto Rican stuff that looks like egg nogg? I’ve tried it once and it was fantastic You have my interest too Indeed it is known as Puerto Rican Egg nog! I use this recipe and skip the raisin part. I like to use a Jamaican dark rum, Appleton Estate 8 yr, I prefer the banana funk flavor that it has vs a spiced rum. Oh and I usually add a little extry rum...at least 2 cups in total. Ingredients 1 ½ cups rum 2 cinnamon sticks 4 oz raisins, optional 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk 1 (15 oz) can cream of coconut, Coco Lopez or Goya brand 1 (13.5 oz) can coconut milk 4 oz evaporated milk ½ teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon ½ teaspoon vanilla extract 4 tablespoons shredded coconut, optional Instructions In a large pitcher with a lid (or two large jars with lids - this will make about 56 oz of liquid total) add rum, cinnamon sticks, and optional raisins (if using). Let sit for at least 1 hour, or up to a week. (This will add an extra depth of flavor to your coquito.) In a blender, puree all the other ingredients. Pour into the bottle and shake well to combine with rum/raisins mixture. Chill for at least 4 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld and coquito to thicken. (The coconut cream will thicken as it chills.) Store in airtight container in refrigerator for up 6 weeks. Shake vigorously each time before serving!

My Dad always like eggnog and Jim Beam. He passed away last year. I think I'll have a few this year.

Aged egg nog. I always make a batch of it around this time of year, so it will be ready to drink during the holidays. I have a quart mason jar of it in the fridge from last year's batch, I always like to try a little bit of the prior year's to see how it ages.
Hot buttered rum. Only time of year I make it, you have to look past the ingredients list, the whole is much greater than the sum of the parts. I use Mount Gay rum, has just enough of the caramel flavor but doesn't over power it.

Is this a "Holiday Drink" thread or a "what I like to drink on a regular basis" thread? Just be thankful everyone has stuck to liquid libations and no Karens have recommended their favorite tampon
