We recovered two this morning.....both shot yesterday evening. The first one was shot in the back leg and went roughly 350 yards.....The second one was a little boys first deer.....He made a good shot on it but it was slightly quartered to him and exited in the guts not leaving any blood to follow. We found it at 200 yards from the hit site..... ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/3lCErIj.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/jFPvmXX.jpg)

No luck on today’s tracks…….We started the first one last night and came back in again this morning to pick up where we left off…..It was a definite leg hit. We jumped it last night but pulled off of it once it ran into a young cutover grown up about head high. Came back in this morning and got the deer back up again. Ran him to a pond but he skirted and circle right back into the young clear cut……It wasn’t the best place to be cutting the dogs loose to run one so after it doubled back into the clear cut the hunter said to call it off and we did…..
The second one was just a classic backwhack…..Everything pointed toward it being such but the hunter thought otherwise so we went and gave it shot……but it was what we thought it was……

Second was a bow shot buck that another tracker had been on and his dog encountered a skunk and they were all stunk up. He called to see if I could come help them out. Deer was shot quartered to the hunter and there was not a drop of blood or arrow found. Not a bad track, he had just went up a fence line about 120 yds and then made a sharp turn and went another 120 yds up the mountain until he gave out. Not a drop a blood found until we go to the deer. Shot placement was as perfect as could be at the angle it was. It was the guys first deer with a bow. He had also shot and recovered a doe from same tree after the buck so first and second bow kill on same hunt. https://sharedalbums.b-cdn.net/c97ba706-880b-45d0-8ec3-dcfb2679799c.jpg?class=display

Went and confirmed a miss for a guy then loaded up and recovered a nice 9pt shot low in the shoulder/brisket area. Almost identical to CNC's doe. It was a quick easy bay/dispatch. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.postimg.cc/N0DnJthr/20231127-210335.jpg)

Loaded up another one today......This one was shot this morning facing the hunter.....They tracked him for 150 yards before jumping him up and backing out....We got on him a little after lunch. Otis tracked another 200 ish yards and found him still very much alive. He must have been pretty hurt though because he gave up after a short chase and we were able to dispatch him. The original shot turned out to be in the neck. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/qxsLvFB.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/cFPRTKi.jpg)

That last one about got a little western on us for a minute……The buck had taken a really defined deer trail down through some pretty thick understory where it bedded. Otis was about 40 yards ahead of us when he jumped it and the buck decided to come right back out the same way he went in…….running directly at me and the hunter. He was probably about 10-15 yards in front of me when I took a big side step out of the trail to keep from getting run over. When I did he seen me and turned a hard 90 right in front us. That gets pretty exciting when that happens....

Recovered this one today. The hunter thought it was a leg shot by the way the deer ran off. I turned Muzz out and about 600 yards laters I heard him baying. The deer broke away before I got close and ran across a hwy. Luckily we had permission on that side as well. We restarted and Muzz was gone like a streak of lightning. Got the deer bayed and took care of but a antler got broke off in the process. Turned out to be a shoulder hit and a exit through guts. Was gonna call the track and wait longer till we saw where he hung his guts on some barbwire and ripped him open. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.postimg.cc/W3VRpBGP/20231130-113057.jpg)

Got to run Ruby on a pretty easy recovery tonight….An older gentlemen in his 70’s was hunting by himself and needed help recovering his deer and getting it out of the woods. Ruby made quick work of it running straight to it around 130 yards from the hit site….She already had the tail chewed off by the time we could catch up with her… ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/IaZLWuc.jpg)

Loaded up a leg shot buck this morning for a young lady hunter…..Otis pointed this one as he got close and we were able to ease in and dispatch him before he ever got out of his bed…….. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/osiOO75.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/7lNkvKa.jpg)

Well ran two tracks. Jumped both deer but couldn't bay either one.First deer was thought to have a broke leg. He didn't.No blood one the 2nd one but the dogs ran it wide open for almost 3 miles. Went up and down some steep mountains and made several big circles. No idea where he could be hit.

Going to look for one in the morning that I’m not too optimistic about but you never know…..Hunter shooting a crossbow hit a limb and deflected the arrow into the deer’s neck…..He said that they had tracked it 600 yards before losing blood…..It’s supposed to be a big buck so he wanted to do everything he could to find it…..Maybe we’ll get lucky and it hit something good causing the deer to bleed out overnight
