"If the landlines are clearly marked there should be ZERO color requirement. Purple, Blue, Yellow... there is no difference when painted in the effectively the same manner. This law is a joke and not serious." Goatkiller

There's a good reason for the specific color for posting the land. It doesn't just show where the boundary of the property is. It posts a warning against trespassing.
There aren't as many landowners these days as there used to be that allow the public to enter without permission, but there are still some. The law still requires land to be either posted against trespass or gated and fenced if the landowner doesn't want people to enter it unless they have been warned in person. The crime is still called "trespass after warning". for prosecution. Lots of folks get that mixed up with the law that requires permission for hunting. If you're not hunting, the law is on your side for entering undeveloped property that isn't posted against trespassing without permission.
It dates all the way back to the common law "open fields doctrine" before landowners got so stingy with their lands. I've seen the difference take place in my lifetime. That's how fast it has changed. When I was a kid, there were thousands of acres of undeveloped land where no permission was necessary to enjoy going there to pick berries, swim in creeks or just enjoy God's Creation.
I don’t think landowners got “stingy” as you say. These scumbag trespassers starting suing landowners when they got hurt trespassing their land and won. Don’t blame a man for protecting what’s rightly his, blame the scumbag trespassing law breakers and their ambulance chasing lawyers
