Saw on Alabama Deer Hunters Facebook page where a Game Camera Pic of one was confirmed in S.West Arkansas by Game and Fish.

In the 90s everyone got all excited about mountain lions in Missouri. Now guys get them on their trail cams and dont even report them. You'll hear about dead ones on the highway if you are paying attention, but unless it is near a big city nobody cares anymore.

Imagine that. An actual lion walking past a trail cam. Yet all these "sightings" in Alabama and still no trail cam pics..........

I had a local game warden show my a picture several years ago of clear and definitive big claw marks on a tree about 6 feet up the tree (in someone’s front yard) about 1/4 mile from where I grew up in rural Houston county. He said he couldn’t tell me what it was because he didn’t see it. But there’s only two things that could have done it. A bear or a mountain lion.

You're right, I've never had a mountain lion on camera.
And you haven't either, at least not in Alabama.

Pile of pictures every year where booger-eaters can't tell a tabby/bobcat/yellow lab from a mountain lion.

Confirmed bear sightings via trail cam/road kill all across the state.

Hippie killer..ive seen 2…ive posted about them on here before…one hit above hunstville almost in tennessee..an one that dozens of us seen at ft morgan..they are here..there just aint many. Me an my uncle watched them load the one hit up..its been like 20 years but it was a local sheriffs deputy and a warden…i seen it from the front seat like 10 ft away passing by slowly..it was probly a hundred pound mountain lion..gas station up there used to have a pic ofbit somebody took from the car..i heard the pic got snatched up by some kinda leo..dont know what..we had good pictures of the cat at ft morgan..but we had a house fire in 2010 and i rekin those pictures along with everything else photo wise burnt..or id postem..we watched that sucker for a solid 10-15 minutes standin on top of a wall down there…about 50-75 people seen it. Some fishy stuff happened to the one hit up in north alabama..idk why theyd cover it up..but it dang sure never got out.

There have been legitimate confirmed sightings in north Walton, north Okaloosa, Escambia and Santa Rosa counties over the years. Eglin AFB biologists were aware of one that was roaming the east side of the base property, near Freeport, back in the late 80s/early 90s. All 4 of these counties touch the AL state line. Are y'all saying the cat or cats confirmed in these counties that adjoin AL, can all read, and never cross the line and roam around occasionally in south Alabama?

That's covering a ton of ground, and an imaginary line drawn on a map, separating FL and AL dang sure isn't going to stop one. It is conceivable to me that a male might roam as far as a 100 miles or more into Alabama at certain times. I dont think there's a breeding population in AL but I also dont discount the idea that one could occasionally roam up well up into South AL. I've got a close friend, that is one of the best hunters and woodsmen that I know, that had a huge lease on the Styx river just across the line in Baldwin county, that saw a big one slowly cross a powerline greenfield at 3:00 in the afternoon while he was sitting in a shooting house on it. People in the club supposedly saw that cat 3 times over a couple month period, then he disappeared and they never saw him again. This was back in the late 90s or around 2000.

There hasn't been a confirmed Mountain Lion in Alabama since 1956.

I’ve always contended most were probably escapees. I don’t think folks realize how many exotics as pets are out there.

I saw one that weighed around 40lbs or so, my BIL was sitting in my truck and saw it too. My friends that owned the land saw one the day before at the same location. He told me after we saw it and was talking about what we saw. Never saw it again. A preacher quit hunting close by saying he had 2 stalk him as he was leaving from his stand.

I saw one back in May…wasn’t around here though. My son almost killed the thing.

They are a somewhat regular occurrence in west texas..i know they made it our way on occasion and our sister ranch which was much further south west of us got pics and sightings several times a year..i have seen a few out there but they usually looked starved half to death and were never very big..but they get very big out there..they killed one right on the edge of the property that weighed 208lbs i think, i think its picture hung in los casadores for a long time. Thats the biggest one i ever seen, our boss wouldn't let us shootem..but they kill the chit out of them on some of them feed lots..i heard they had a bounty on them out there up until pretty recent..i know unless they eatin cows..nobody pays them much attention..or it didnt seem that way anyhow…i know ranchers hatem🤷🏻

There have been pictures, tracks and roadkills. But youre right, they didnt get gamechecked and you wont believe it unless your govt tells you its true. Read that last part again. Our govt is just real good bout telling the truth, arent they?
