The Chevron station by Tuscaloosa County High School. Your description is half right...close, but not north of Tuscaloosa. I did drive by the Chevron you referenced today on way to Samantha.

I stopped at a place off the toll road headed into Northport back when I hunted in Pickens county some. Little service station at the red light there right off the interstate, made some fine fried pork chop sandwich’s. Sorta favored that place you at.
