Hey CNC-
You gonna post up the pics and educate the “rage followers” on what they are flirting with?

Here you go......found this today a little over 1,000 yards from the hit site shot with a Rage expandable..... He pulled the arrow out but the broadhead wasnt attached anymore....It was getting pretty stanky so we didnt dig it out to see exactly what happened ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/VpNirBF.jpg)

What bow/poundage/weight arrow/distance etc? That shot placement was good. Is that how y’all found it? At that angle?

I hit a rib bone on a doe with a swacker at 10 yards onetime and the housing broke, tip folded over and I didn't get much penetration. I found her by luck but went back to fix blades

I’m expecting that deer to go 150 yards at most with that hit.
Maybe only penetrated to get one lung?
Ya'll are just overthinking it now

Maybe only penetrated to get one lung? That was most likely the case

Well that’s comforting. First year using expandables and I’m sure hoping for a better outcome should I get lucky. I think the expandable game needs to be backed by an arrow with weight and speed to be effective consistently.

I'm going to look for another one in the morning that sounds really, really similar using an expandable.......The arrow backed out on this one though and the hunter is reporting about 12 inches of penetration.... We'll see how it turns out.

Lots of folks use mechanical broadheads to compensate for an untuned bow. You can stand to the side and watch their arrows fishtail all the way to the target. They may hit what they’re aiming at but it’s inefficient arrow flight that leads to loss of speed, underpenetration, and arrows snapping off at the insert because it’s making initial contact at a skewed angle. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.postimg.cc/4NZxg486/4766-B83-A-EC1-A-4-E6-A-8-BB5-730-ADCBE3-DB4.png)

Hard quartered away shot? I have heard some stories about expandables and hard quartered shots.

You really have to shoot pretty tight to the shoulder to get a good double lung. Hard to say for sure by my money is on that shot being liver/guts and at best the back side of one lung, IMO

Either that shot was way too far or the poundage on the bow is unsufficient.
