I stopped by a local boat place and they had new Yamaha 250s stacked, I bet they had 15 in boxes. I asked why they have some many new motors, he said they have seen a huge increase in folks just keeping their old boat and buying a brand new motor. I am thinking this trend may move to the truck market... just repower it instead of buying 90k new truck. Yep....a brand new 4stroke outboard is, what, $25k(ish)? Even if you have to take your old hull and put $10-20k into it to make it like-new, you're still WAYYY ahead. My guess is the hardest part is simply finding someone to do the work....and that's assuming it needs serious work like structural stuff. I'm wrapped up in this dilemma know. My 225 pro xs 2 stroke slung a rod 3 weeks ago. I'm on the waiting list for a new 4 stroke but. I'm trying to decide if i like this boat (Ranger) enough to keep it another 10 yrs to justify putting $25k in it. I really want another new bullet but there's $70k difference in the decision. Good luck getting a new one for 70. They like everything else are stupid high also. I bought mine just right in 21 seems like they went up about 20k right after I bought mine.
