THIS! When other states had real estate going up 75-100%. The bull market in Alabama was 20%. When their prices are dropping 25-30%. Here in Alabama - it is more like -5%. It pays to live in a more conservative state. We don't build wealth as quick, but we don't typically lose it quick either.

I stopped by a local boat place and they had new Yamaha 250s stacked, I bet they had 15 in boxes. I asked why they have some many new motors, he said they have seen a huge increase in folks just keeping their old boat and buying a brand new motor. I am thinking this trend may move to the truck market... just repower it instead of buying 90k new truck. Yep....a brand new 4stroke outboard is, what, $25k(ish)? Even if you have to take your old hull and put $10-20k into it to make it like-new, you're still WAYYY ahead. My guess is the hardest part is simply finding someone to do the work....and that's assuming it needs serious work like structural stuff. I'm wrapped up in this dilemma know. My 225 pro xs 2 stroke slung a rod 3 weeks ago. I'm on the waiting list for a new 4 stroke but. I'm trying to decide if i like this boat (Ranger) enough to keep it another 10 yrs to justify putting $25k in it. I really want another new bullet but there's $70k difference in the decision.

Good luck getting a new one for 70. They like everything else are stupid high also. I bought mine just right in 21 seems like they went up about 20k right after I bought mine.

My 2012 Frontier has 256k and I’m about to essentially replace all the suspension to keep it going. The front shocks are squeaking terribly and it’s probably a matter of time till upper/lower ball joints go out. Getting new inner/outer tie rods and sway bar end links. I’m going to refresh the rear shocks and spring bushings as well. Aside from squeaking it just rides really rough over any bumps in the road.
A new truck is just too much to pay, and used prices are absurd in my opinion. This engine has never given me trouble aside from it burns 1 quart oil every 4k miles or so. Maybe I can keep it enjoyable to drive for another 50-75k. You've had that truck for a long time. Good decision.

Yeah. It served as a hunting truck at the club for several years before I did what I should and bought a 4 wheeler. I’m sure the grit that inevitably got into bushings etc has contributed to suspension wear.
You can tell by the miles vs age it’s a do-all daily driver. I’m sort of tired of it to be honest, but I just don’t want to buy a new vehicle. I want my son to learn on a manual transmission here in 6 months when he turns 15 so I’m trying to keep it in reliable condition. Once he inherits it I can splurge on a relatively new one.

Just put a transmission in my ‘05 2500hd. 230k miles, uses less than a qt of oil per oil change. Hope to get 2 more yrs out of it.

When I put the rear end back under my 77 F150 it’s gonna be on. I’ve only had it built and sitting on my guest bed for 3 years. It will one day be better than new. Rather drive it than my AT4 anyday.

I’m all for that. The only problem I have with older trucks like that is safety. Crumple zones, collapsible steering columns, airbags and many other things save lives. Not to be Debbie Downer

Im always looking and the truck/boat market. In the past ive normally bought and sold a truck every 3-4 years. My 2021 silverado 1500 just went in the shop last week for injectors again. just under 38k on the clock. Ive been watching for a good deal on a used 3/4ton diesel truck for close to a year. I havent found one yet, but i have noticed in the last two months that there are trucks sitting on the lot a lot longer. 6-8 months months ago used diesel trucks were gone within a day or two. Now they are sitting for months at a time. Its just a matter of time beofre the bottom falls out on the market.

Get a new powerhead. They have a warranty and you can get it done for $5 to 7k range.
