Got another call that just came in for tomorrow morning that sounds really similar to this last one......Hunter thought he hit right behind the shoulder.....Reported finding the arrow while blood trailing with about a foot of penetration on a 2 inch expandable.....Followed decent blood for about 100 yards before it started getting sparse and decided to back out.....possible one lung hit.....hopefully it isnt just a shoulder shot.....

To be continued..........

Gonna take me a minute to upload these pics so I’ll post them one at a time……The first one was a rare shoulder hit that gets recovered…..When I got there and saw the arrow it looked like classic shoulder but with a little bit more penetration…..maybe 8-10 inches……I should have asked but it seemed like his arrow was a little heavier when I picked it up and that may have been what made the difference……Pretty much a straight run right to it just a little ways out from where he stopped last night…..The pics don’t do the body size justice…..This deer was a TANK!......One of the top 5 biggest bodied deer I’ve ever recovered.

The second one was the same goat we tried to rope a few days ago…..He came back to the same spot and got shot again, but this time he got whacked solid through the front shoulder with a crossbow…..The hunter thought he heard him crash and got on the track a little too soon and jumped him before deciding to back out until this morning…..We found him at about the 500 yard mark…….The yotes likely took this one down before he ever died because the hunter reported hearing them going crazy out in front of him as he was leaving.

The third one turned out to be a little more tricky than the first two but it was still a pretty straight forward track and dispatch of 400 ish yards…..I’ll let this Aldeer member remain anonymous unless he wants to come forward and lay claim to it. laugh

This was Ruby’s first recovery running completely on her own…..I couldn’t have been more proud…..She took us straight to him.

The hit clipped and cut the buck's tendon on its back leg and completely broke the front leg…..He was crippled up bad and pretty much just waiting on us in the front end of this pond.

Nice recovery on that last one, but out of past experience there is no way I would swim a deer with a dog off the leash. Bad experience with a man bout gettin drown by the dogs… great job see in see

It was vicious deer hounds, not well trained tracking dogs. Big difference in obedience, behavior, and brains. So you’re prolly good! 😁

My lab is pretty well behaved and obedient but my cur dog is still like a baby ogre with her "exuberance" I guess I’ll call it ….I could see her doing something like that.

Lu-lu is gonna make a great tracking dog but good gracious she's stubborn and head strong......She'll give a live deer hell though when she gets on it.

Call came in about 9:00 am this morning to look for one that was shot in the guts yesterday evening after the hunters having no luck finding anything at daylight…..This was a really tough track….There was ZERO blood from start to finish on this one and I really couldn’t tell you for sure what all Otis is tracking to recover a deer like this…..probably a combination of things if I had to guess……It took him a little bit to pick it out but Otis eventually took us 600 yards to a really nice 7 pt……We looked for one more on the way home but it was just a very minor clipped brisket that’ll live to get shot at again another day…….
