So my wife and I bought 588 acres this past year. I’ve got roughly 88-89.6 acres planted in food plots. Long story short, since April when we purchased I’ve had 30, 600lb Boss Buck feeders going with Ani-Logics non stop. After adding up my feed cost over the last 6 months… Well I’m shocked. Curious what everyone else feeds? I had a guy I got it wholesale, $32.38 if I ordered a pallet but now that’s gone.
Any and all help is much appreciated as always. Thanks!

I wish! No we did not. We were very blessed and we’ve been saving for this awhile. Our daughter started Auburn this fall and my wife and I both got a nice raise before spring so we jumped.

I would plant corn and beans. Probably have a better payoff that way. Find / make more areas to plant food for them. Feed will eat your budget alive. Record rack and deer draw is what I’ve used over the years. Stuff is just to pricey for me right now. I never fed enough to make a big difference but the deer really loved it. I have pictures of a doe pushing feed out for her fawn to eat off the ground.

Basically, it’s all or nothing. Really wanting to continue but need a cheaper high protein feed. Buying in bulk is no issue it’s just finding what’s out there.

I buy bulk feed in 1000# bags for around $200/bag, Across I-65 from Clanton. 16% protein feed, deer like it.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

The best year of hunting on my 100 acres was the year I planted all of my fields in corn. I've never been able to replicate the fields i had 2 years ago, but if you plant it they will come.

Here’s something else to consider. With the amount that you’re already spending and willing to invest into this , I think I would go about it a little differently. I would hire a consultant like our own Matt Brock about maximizing the natural nutrition that your land can produce.

If you have a 600 lb feeder every 20 acres and 15% of your property is in food plots your just pissing money away no matter how many deer you have.

Here are a couple options for quality feed at a much cheaper cost.
I use these two companies and the deer like their product.
Casey Feeds LLC 4631 County Road 37S Hope Hull, AL Phone: 334-548-2789
