My $0.02
1. 30-40% raise in salary, that is over the life of the contract so, a 4 yr contract that equals 7.5-10% per yr. They don't get it all at one time. The contacts I looked at were from $17-35/hr.
They keep downplaying this to make it look more insignificant. Show off hands…who gets 7.5-10% annual raises at their place of employment? Not me.
Hell, who gets a 30% raise without either advancing up the ladder or by having some sort of commission structure? Unions might be necessary in a few very niche career fields but what UAW is doing right now is negotiating their workers out of a job. While these plants are shut down, all the foreign auto makers here already are pumping out vehicles left and right. Wouldn’t shock me to hear that all of these plants start announcing moves to southern states in the coming years and telling the unions to piss up a rope.
