I’ve read many times about it being a good source for deer but I have never found a single indication of it being browsed. Now I admit that our density is only moderate where I have it so that may be a factor. What say you? Do you see it being utilized?

I’ve been on properties where they nip French Mulberry, but most folks haven’t seen it.

Our population hits the berries hard. Especially along roadsides. Foliage browsing probably occurs to some extent but it seems less preferable than some other options through the spring/summer timeframe. But they will eat every berry within reach in some parts of the old lease. The coyotes eat them too then leave piles of purple scat in the roads.

Never noticed where deer eat them much on my place, but goats love them.

Never once seen deer browse on them or the fruit in north AL or MS. However, I’ve read that they do. 😀

If I was looking for a preferred source of food for early bow season in the mid south I’d look at something else. They may eat them in other areas but not up here.

Just curious if others were having the same experience as I was. I don’t archery hunt but acorns are falling and persimmons are not quite done yet. My second growth buckwheat is getting a lot of use too.

They eat on it a little at the house and I have a lot of it. They eat the crap out of it at work but they are over populated. They eat the hell out of French mulberry at the house though. I had 5 in the back yard start up and once big enough they kept them limbed up as high as they could reach.

Just about every bush I walk past is browsed on at my place. No doubt they eat them, but I wouldn’t consider them an attractant. Kudzu is more of an attractant. Deer browse

Never noticed the deer eating them but they really don't get a chance... my wife bags them and freezes them for our chickens ...

It's a cool native shrub I like having around, but I've never seen the deer mess with it.
