I don't own a deer feeder. I am planning to buy ONE. I "think" I want one of the gravity feed ones, where the corn falls down into the tubes. Do deer take to those fairly well? I'd rather not feed coons all winter again this year.

If you've got a favorite, let me know. If you've tried those, and they don't work well, let me know that too. I really don't want to go through 2-4 feeders before I find one that I like, and that the deer like.

This is what I'm talking about, but I think I would prefer one that holds more than 200 lbs.

You talking about the ones where the feed comes out at ground level?

Get you one of these and you can make one yourself. I used this one for quite a whilt and it worked great till the deer got too greedy. You say your density is low so a gravity feeder should work well for you. You could build a feeder out of a 55gal drum and add this head to it. You wouldnt have much in it.

I “think” you are looking for suggestions about feeders.

Stay away from gravity feeders IMO if it is for hunting purposes. Also, times feeders save you money in corn. Deer will eat more than you think if you just free flow it to them.

Boss Buck 250 or 350

I prefer a spinner adapter though. Uses less corn and can get them on a pattern better.

I had to go with spinner feeders and timers or the deer eat all of my corn in short order. With the timer, O see the same or more deer and they don’t eat $100 worth of corn in a weekend.

It got to where i was going through 225# in three days last year. I had to go to a spinner as well. We have more deer than ever before though.

I found a hog feeder that the bottom was rusted out, The man gave it to me. Will be turned into a spin feeder, holds 3,600 lbs of corn.

Gonna put 5hp motor on it and sling corn 100 yards?

These are easy to make. I made one similar with 2 holes 2"x2" each, & put some scrap wood covered with great stuff in the middle to make the corn flow towards the holes. Tied down the barrel. Put something under it.

My banks 300 pound capacity has been good - i put pvc on the pole to deter coons - my buddy actually fixed pole where my banks is movable - got feet at bottom of pole - did not hav to dig hole to put feeder post in

Also - for cheap - the dang redneck gravity feeder pretty dang solid - but it only like 70-80 pound capacity - i hav 3 in one of my small fields - i got pvc over those legs also

Pvc does deter coons r make it harder - but i trap to knock back

I prefer spin but I also use the original metal Flat out feeder. Neat little gravity feeder. Held 200 lbs and collapsed as deer ate it. Use to be a dealer when I was in the hunting supply business but I think they stopped making or sold to someone.

Unless you want to be filling it every week I'd go with a 600lb feeder. The coons will get to anything you out up.
