The oregon 40 volt is the only way to go IMO. Have had one for 3years now. Have personally only seen them for sale on-line. Looked in various stores for one before I bought mine with no luck. Will cost you in the neighborhood of $400, but worth it to me. Has its own manual sharpening lever. Bar & chain require no tools for removal. Nothing out there like it that I know of. Only complaint i have is wish it would turn slightly higher on the rpms'. The extreme sharpness of the chain makes up for this though. Wicked sharp teeth.

Get an Echo, run straight gas in it and run it out of gas every time you use it and it will last forever. Much longer than a bunch of batteries. If its a 2 stroke Echo I would NOT do this.....  your just asking for trouble.... surely you are joking....

Had a guy climb a few trees and cut limbs. Had a Makita he swore buy it while climbing. He used it once on the ground. Worked great.

I have a Milwaukee pole saw that will do some work!!! Today is the first time the battery died but I had used it the last two times at the farm without recharging. My bad!

Bought the wife a stihl. She also has a stihl hedge trimmer and blower, so we always have back up batteries. I have cut down and cut up several chip and saw size trees. It works great.

FYI, I picked up a 18 inch bar electric ECHO at the store yesterday. Dang thing was HEAVY, put it back.

Got a kobalt 24 v that rides in my truck box. It is awesome. Battery holds a charge for a long time unused and I have not runbit sown once trimming limbs when a tree falls across one of our roads. Have not used it in a big job and probably won't but it's a great tool to have

I have a Dewalt one because I'm loaded on other Dewalt stuff, so I could swap batteries around. I "think" it has a 14in bar on it and I've cut oak limbs almost as thick as the bar is with no issues. Carry a spare battery or two and it's great for around the house type of stuff in my opinion. I use the 9ah Flex volt batteries

We put the Milwaukees on all of our fire trucks. They are great for ventilation in oxygen depleted environments where the standard 2 stroke will not work.

I have a DeWalt that I will cut shooting lanes and do trimming with and it works really well. I've cut some trees out of the roads that were as big around as the average guys leg. I ran one of these over the weekend. I didn’t cut anything bigger than my wrist but it seemed to work well. It was brand new. Figure if you keep the chain sharp it would work for a good cause. Felt like I shouldn’t cut a big size tree with it but that should be expected.. X2 just keep it out of the dirt. love to keep mine in the Jeep during hunting season for the unexpected tree across the road...no gas smell and saved a bunch of walking.
