If you’re a wise hunter you will already have some either in your pocket or in your backpack anyways……So the next time you shoot a deer….especially during bow season….put it in your hand as soon as you start tracking and “bread crumb” the trail with toilet paper squares as you find blood…..Its so so simple to do yet very few folks think to do it….
It makes a world of difference if you have to go back later and relocate your path. It also helps you in the moment to look back and easily see the line the deer is running to help point you to the next potential spot of blood…..or when someone says….”Where was last blood??”…….You can easily say…..”Right there”…….

Good Tip but not what I was expecting. 🤣 I’m getting pretty fired up about the season about to be here and was just thinking about the things to come…..I’ve learned over the years that to be a dog tracker you need the patience of Job for several reasons……But I still have a hard time not getting frustrated when I’m aimlessly wandering around the woods with someone for half an hour trying to relocate the blood that was “just right around here somewhere.”….. Its all good though…..just part of it. Use it as a teaching moment

Been doing this for years. Except with paper towels. And while tracking, if a $hit breaks out, I'm prepared.
Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.
My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

I have about 10’ of yellow caution rolled up about the diameter of a pencil. It is in the back pack in the knife pouch. I’ll tie about 4” on a limb at eye level every now and then while I am still in the line of sight of the last piece.

I don’t shoot deer in the guts, so I don’t need to toilet paper my blood trails. 😎

A buddy in a club I was in told me about blue shop rags years ago, he said wipe your butt with them and then hang it over some barb wire, come back the next year and you can use again.

I think y’all are missing the point of using TP for flagging a bloodtrail. It’s biodegradable so you don’t have to go back and retrieve it after the track job is over. I don’t shoot deer in the guts, so I don’t need to toilet paper my blood trails. 😎 This post had me rolling ^^^^

My granddad would use toilet paper to mark the trails to his stand. He use something not obvious on the main trail like a limb cut a very way on a tree or a beer can and then he would drop rolls of toulet paper on the ground all the way to his stand or tree he had picked out. He said it was cheaper and less obvious than flagging tape or glow in the dark tacks.

Kinda silly but many of the TP rolls used in commercial holders do not use cardboard holes in the middle of the roll. Our janitor at work puts low rolls on the counter. Saves space in your pack.
