i need some info on a good turkey gun for the wife. should i do a pump,o/u or auto? i'm thinking a 20ga would be a good choice. whats yall's opinions?

Depends on how big she is. If she's really small I would go with a youth model of some sort. If not any of your standard Browning, Benelli, or Remington, or Mossbergs would work.
I would definitely stick with the 20 ga though. You are a full grown man and you know how those things even rattle your teeth when you pull the trigger. If you introduce her to one of those and she shoots it a time or two she may lose interest in turkey hunting rather quickly.
My wife wants to go turkey hunting next year and I am going to start her off with the 12 ga, but I am going to have her shoot 2 3/4 loads under 30 yards only. I may change my mind but that's what I am thinking.
If she likes it and wants to continue I will invest in a good 20 ga.

I would definately use the 20g and just get some good shells. Nitros or some hevi 13.
If you think its something that she will continue to use I would get a good semi auto.

20ga M2 sure is a sweet little gun but it's pricey.

Break her in shooting whatever gun she's gonna hunt with shooting small shot! Once she gets used to it and gets into the moment she'll never know the difference until she see's the bruises! Lol! My host and hunting partner in Ne. this year was a small woman who had never turkey hunted before and she killed one with my 11-87 with 3 1/2" #4s. She missed one the day before with it at 3 steps and was so into it that she said she never felt the recoil!

I won a Camo Stoeger 12 ga at the NWTF in Camden last year, she is gonna give it a try this year.

gas semi auto 20 guage. Nitro shells BUT NOT a super tight shooting choke  get her a choke that shoots a nice even 30 yard pattern with the nitros, nitro pellets kill likeasumbatch!!!! let her shoot 2 3/4 dove loads to pattern the gun and practice. you can always get a tighter shooting choke later for her....or you troy

You oughta get her a Mossberg 835 and load it with 3.5" Winchester Supremes. Let her shoot it one time and then she won't bother you any more when you want to go turkey hunting.

pcp, I saw a fella do that ONCE with a girl and a Ruger 44mag, funny as all heck TILL SHE COCKED IT A SECOND TIME AND POINTED IT AT HIMboy done a LOT of crawfishin and begging. boy did a LOT of crawfishing and begging. I really thought she was gonna shoot him.... ....no, it wasn't me. :rolleyes:

When I married my wife she had never shot a gun so I let her shoot my Franchi 20 ga thinking it wouldn't bother her too bad. She always tells people how I tricked her into shooting a shotgun that bruised her shoulder. :rolleyes:

some of those older lightweight Franchis do kick bad for a 20.
My brother had a O/U Beretta 20 that would cross yer eyes and bruise yer cheek!!!

At the first dove hunt my shoulder was bloodied up so bad I started flinching at the shot. Wound up selling it to my cousin who didn't know any better.

i've got a 12ga m2 - fine gun, but expensive - had a stoger 2000 12ga that shot as good as my benelli -paid about $400 new for it - wish they made it in a 20 - the action's about the same as the benelli -inertia driven

Get her a remington 870 compact 20ga. Tis gun has the spacers in the stock, so you can adjust the LOP. I've got one and it shoots great with H-13 #7's or Fed Heavyweight #7's.
