The WMS deer magnet has the black oats and triticale as the back bone of the mix. It looks like you added 25# more black oats to your mix. I am a big fan of oats as well but mostly use the buck forage oats.


If you are using BFO for the cold tolerance only, I used a lot of Cosaque Black Oats last year . I didn't lose any, even with about 5 days in single digits . I did fertilize my plots early December with 150 lbs 33-0-0 per acre. After the super cold snap , my plots looked like it hadn't even been below freezing. " Side dressing" plots with straight N is a game changer .



We were doing that many many years ago. Basically emulating farmers and their wheat crop but we’d hit in December to get new growth during the rut.
