I agree with Mbrock, Scapula is bad but below it is great. I have learned this, no matter how fast your set up slings an arrow or bolt -aim lower that normal. Like heart shot. Never seen a deer jump an arrow but they will flat out duck one.
Its not the will to win but the will to prepare to win!

If your arrow won’t go through a shoulder blade, you should reexamine your setup.

There’s must be a lot of folks needing new setups then…..I think some of that is probably true though. I’m not saying that there hasn’t ever been a deer shot through the shoulder and killed but your margin of error is extremely slim…... The red box is really your effective kill area….especially with big expandable broadheads. An arrow anywhere in that box is a dead deer with a high recovery rate if you just don’t push him......and if you cant get a quartered away shot you're chances of a good outcome go up even higher. If he's quartered away for sure leave that shoulder alone and just bury one up in the body cavity. Don't make it harder on yourself than it has to be. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/ZlvyYBk.jpg)

Great information CNC, thanks for taking the time to provide it. Don't know anybody who would have more experience with shot placement and the results good or bad than you.
