I have hunted prime property in Webb County, TX. Low fence, lots of feed, great genetics.

One year I killed a 6-1/2 year old and a 7-1/2 year old, and there were 5 other bucks shot during the rut 5-1/2 and older. Best of the bunch scored 129", but all had body weights over 200 lbs. Biggest was 245 lbs live weight.

Just cause they get old, doesn't mean that they have a huge rack. This is the same low fence place I shot a 183 a few years back. I have seen a deer on this place that we knew to be over 8, and he wouldn't score much over 100 at any point in his life. He would have been at least 230 lbs from age 5 on up. Never saw him personally, just on camera, but the leaseholder called him Fatso. Once the rut started, all the other bucks stayed out of his core area.
