Had to go to Mobile this morning because our office suffered a major fire in the wee hours this AM. A handfull of us worked to board up the windows and doors to keep vandals and gawkers out. Got back home and drove down to Ono to check on the in-laws beach house.

Not the best pic, but this is from my truck on Ponce De Leon St in Ft Morgan this morning. The surf was still washing across the peninsula and into the bay.

Here's a thread for pics from the coast. I'll start it off. Private Pier over the Gulf in Gulf Shores with a 12-ft+ wave crashing under it! I think it's the one that's part of a neighborhood at the west end of HWY 182.  That's the Four Seasons Pier (formally Judge Dunns) Two questions. Four Seasons is what? A condo complex? Formerly Judge Dunn's? Who was Judge Dunn? Am I wrong in thinking that was a VERY EXPENSIVE pier to construct? How long ago did they do it? Seems like it would have been hard to get a permit for something like that?

Judge Dunn built a timber pier there in the 50's. It delineated the private beaches from the public beaches. We had a block cottage next door. The Four Seasons built one of the first "high rise" condos in that part of orange beach back in the early 80's. They subsequently built 2 more units next to it and the last one is a single unit per floor "all penthouse" type condo. They rebuilt the pier which I believe was grandfathered in without a permit in the mid 80's. It was almost destroyed after Ivan (I think) and repaired again. I doubt it's much of a money make for them.
not sure what the best way to handle them is but they shouldnt be on tv and gettn married and raisin kids
