After a recent encounter with a timber rattler near the front door of our camp, I decided I needed a better solution than iron sights on my .22 mag Tracker. Found this Wiegand mount and mounted a Nikon P-spur I had laying around. So far it’s a winner.

It’s not the range time, it’s the almost 60 year old eyes and iron sights. I shot over the snakes head 4 or 5 times before I shot him in the body. He darted forward and coiled up. Walked back to the truck and got my PSA Dagger with a red dot sight and promptly finished the ordeal.

Just messing with you.I’ve missed enough of them that I usually just grab a stick or limb and pop them behind the head…

I carry 38 SPC or 44 SPC (and/or 45 ACP or Colt) all in revolvers, with snake shot if I think I am going to run into a bad snake.

The revolver for snakes is a Judge or Governor

If you use snake shot, be sure to scrub out the forcing cone and bore after.
That plastic can melt in there and create an obstruction and cause bad problems when shooting a conventional bullet

Also push the plastic cup down when you load them. I have had several that vibrated loose and would lock up the cylinder when I tried to fire them.
