I watched someone catch an 11 foot bull shark right in front of the Flora Bama Yacht Club a few weeks ago. Beach was full of swimmers.
I guess they've always been there, but I've never seen one that big near that spot in the 30 years I've been hanging around Old River.
The metric tons of snapper carcasses floating around don't help.
I’ve never heard of a bull shark being that long. They are short fat sharks. I would have to see a tape on him to believe it. Shark lengths are always exaggerated and usually not on purpose. I have a family member that beach fishes for them for a living. An 8-9’ bull shark is a monster. It was probably a Dusky shark. They are longer and a little slimmer but look a lot like a bull shark. If it was a bull shark it was probably a state record lol.
Shark fishing from the beach with swimmers is very frowned upon. Guys usually do it at night when there are no swimmers
