If it were me I’d start the first of august cutting strips in the field. Then the next week run your disc over the cut strips to bare dirt, then cut you another set of strips beside the previous. Over lap that bare dirt so your bushhog throws some seed on top of the dirt. Top sow wheat on the bare dirt. Continue cycle till the day before your shoot. Legal and provides the most seed to ground. I like to leave patches 10’x10’ for hunters to hide in.
