I was wondering about how you would really let a toddler loose on the shoulder of HWY as bait and be sure the child would not wonder on the HWY and get killed????? It just has to look like a toddler to catch most folks' attention, though.

HO AX! My parents live on the 150 side of 459 in Paradise Acres. My mother was concerned, and I told her that what was being reported was damn near impossible. The black "girl" was a "nursing student"! My white mother had two children in the early 70's at that age! A lot of odd things about this episode; but deciding to be a nurse at 25 would not be one of them. We need more of them. They keep referencing her as a "girl" and "nursing student". She was 25 years old! Not a child! The news is making her out to be a child! What if they said Dollar General employee? We damn sure need more of them Well she is a "girl" and is a nursing student; but whatever.

We damn sure need more of them I think they said she saw a child; but whatever Even if you are 50 years old, if your parents are still alive, you are still someone's child. But maybe whoever is doing the reporting considers a "girl" to be anyone their age or younger. I know at my 50+ age, I tend to refer to folks in their mid to late 30s as girls, but most males are referred to as guys regardless of age. But, our daughter turned 38 this year, so that is probably part of why I think that way.

25 years old is not a "girl." That's an adult woman, albeit a young woman. If a 25-yo man was involved with something no one would call him a boy.
Legitimate reporting would not identify her as a "girl." Typically that's a designation tied with age, and "girl" would be for someone age 12 or younger. Ages 13-19 would be teenagers, and 20+ would be young adult or adult. But when you have reporters and family and others pushing a narrative about a "girl" being abducted or with issues or other scenarios, they go with it. Similar to football and sports coaches bragging about their "young men!" and then falling back on "they're just kids" when trouble hits. It's selective descriptions.
Didn't know we had so many traffic cameras all over the place. Dash cams, for sure. Didn't know about the traffic cams.

Anyone get an idea of what she was doing at the Harpersville PD earlier that day? And it is normal for HPD to make social media posts about a casual visitor?

Traffic cams and tag reading cams all over the place. Must be 50 tag cams in Alabaster alone.

Traffic cams and tag reading cams all over the place. Must be 50 tag cams in Alabaster alone. We have used them on insurance claims to prove prior damage. Folks get surprised when you show them a traffic cam picture of their truck 3 months earlier with the same dent in the bumper they claims was from the accident.

I didn't know about https://algotraffic.com/ and took a look around. Never knew there is a cam on the I-65 bridge. They're everywhere. I guess we definitely live in a surveillance police state with someone watching all the time.

I think they posted after she was reported missing? I read that to be an unknown but in my mind she was probably paying for a ticket or something like that. They made sure to say how respectful she was and that often isn't the case when someone is paying a fine. That could be why she stood out to them and they remembered the name. It would be interesting to know all the details when they find out, but out of respect for her privacy, the public may never know.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

This has hoax written all over it and the first thing I told my wife. I still hate it because I really like her boyfriend. Assuming he was not in on it, I bet he’s done with that one.

That right there is hilarious.😀

You can’t cross a river in Alabama with out being on camera. They’ve got cameras at every pinch point you could imagine and then some more.

I think you guys nailed this from the beginning. My wife told me about an abduction, so I checked here and got the real story. I have no idea what really happened, but I think it would be very difficult to charge her with anything. She made a 911 call and claimed to see a toddler; no way to prove that she didn't see something she thought could have been a child. And then she abandoned her vehicle. I don't think that's a crime. Everything else happened because of conjecture by others. I don't see anything to prosecute, at least on evidence available at this point.

When she gets a full questioning, usually something comes out that shows she made a false 911 call. In this case, because of all the crap that got stirred up she will at minimum get a harsh misdemeanor charge.
