I have owned Bobcat/// Yamaha ///Gators [3]and 2 Mules and my choice is the Mule dependable quiet and powerful and comfortable Just wait till you ride in a ranger or hd10 one day.

Another vote for Can-Am. I bought a 250 dirt bike long time ago and it was tougher than a Waffle House steak. I’ve been a Polaris fan in UTV/ATV market but Can-Am is a better product.

Would love to hear some more input on the Yamaha Viking. Appreciate everyone for commenting thus far - very helpful insights! I had a regular cab 3 person front seat only 2016 Yahama Viking and it was great. I don't recommend the 6 person viking as it is too long and under powered. The 680CC single cylinder engine is big enough and gets great gas milage and is BULLET PROOF! The belt has a 10 yr guarantee and is the best belt drive transmission in the business PERIOD. It is light, powerful enough and extremely well built. Top speed is around 50MPH which is plenty fast and powerful enough to spin 4 27" mud tires in 4WD Locked. The viking has more comfortable seats/seating position than the Pioneer. I looked for a new Viking before I bought my 1000cc pioneer but could not find one close by. My intent was to buy another one. Only negative thing is the rear end stays locked like a 4 wheeler. My old one (which I sold) is still running like a top with about 7,000 miles on it with the original belt!. Only replaced both rear wheel bearings (from turning sharp on pavement loaded too much- another disadvantage of a locked rear diff) and a voltage regulator. Overall I am glad I got the Pioneer so far but it was about 7K more expensive than a new Viking By the way Honda makes a crew cab true 6 seater 1000 pioneer now. Mule pro gets my vote for all around work usage. They are slower (43mph I think is the top speed), but still fast enough for anything I do. The rear bed is convertible, when both rows are seating is used its still a usable bed (7 or 8 buckets, or my 25 gal spray tank plus 2 buckets). When I need a lot of bed space I can fold down the rear seats and then its about as large as a small pickup bed. Mine rides smoother and quieter than my rangers, or any can am I have been in.

Honda Pioneers are definitely reliable. But I hear several complaints about them being hot. The 700 top speed is only 43mph, whereas the 1000 will run about 67. Other than having a death wish, why in the hell would someone need to go 67mph in a utv, or 43 for that matter I ,too, am curious as to what anyone would be running from or to in a UTV going 65+ mph? To each their own, but I bet that feels like 100 mph in a car. I have a 700 and seldom ever get it to 40 on the dirt road and even then its a little crazy to me. Whatever floats your boat I reckon.

Im curious about this same topic but wonder how many have over 3000 miles on their machines? Some people load there rides up and haul them to hunt club and put a few miles on them and haul them back....other use them as a way of life and put 1000s of miles a year on one. I fall into the 1000s of mile per year catagory.

Yamaha has the best belt drive system. Polaris has the best 4wd system. Honda is shaft drive/auto. Kawasaki Mule Pro is a utility beast. They all have some "betters than the rest". They are all different machines than we grew up with and none, that are quality, are inexpensive, either. I have friends with CanAm and they're impressive machines and come with options as standard, that are upgrades/add-ons in other brands. Same with newer JD Gators that I've been in. All depends on your use.

I have a 22 model Mule Pro FXT and love it. I have buddies with Can Am's and Rangers who always try and put the mule down but I havent had any issues going to the same places they on on our hunting properties. That being said theirs would absolutely out do my mule if we were using them at the mud bog or in flooded fields for duck hunting. I know quite a few guys with 3000+ miles on Pro FXT's with no issues. I like the shorter wheel base over Can Am/Ranger, the ability to have a larger bed, its quiet and smooth. Another big thing is Kawasaki gives you a 3 year warranty versus 1yr with Can Am and 6 months with Polaris.

The engine is so far back you feel no heat at all. The Kawasaki Mule Pro is pure utility and built like a tank. I wanted just a little more sport in my UTV.

The Kawasaki Mule Pro is pure utility and built like a tank. I wanted just a little more sport in my UTV.
I have a 2004 Mule 3010 Trans. I was looking at a 2020 model the other day. The similarities was so similar. To me that is a reassuring. Don't change something that is working good. The ability to extend the bed or have a second row is neat. I also enjoy the under the hood storage. The down side to the mule is speed. It is 20-25 mph max.

I've got a gas Ranger. If I was going to buy another UTV I'd buy the Ranger EV if I was going electric, or a Honda if I was going to get another gas burner.
