It’s been at least a month since I’ve got to go. With all this water, thinking about setting out a few set hooks. Anyone doing any good? Are they spawning?

Up here on the Tennessee River, I don’t even try until August hits the calendar. It’s a waste of time from June 1st until August. You may catch a few here or there, but once August gets here, they’ve left the beds and are hungry. Fun time to fish.

I was visiting with a Fisheries Research Dude with AU a while back. I told him I would LOVE to borrow one of those electro-shock rigs they use and go get myself some Catfish. He laughed and proceeded to tell me of a Creek that empties into Lake Martin. They were shocking the Creek and checking for different Catfish Species and the population. Said in all his years researching our waters....he had never seen the amount of Flatheads that they brought up in that Creek!! Never would tell me which one it was....

I drop shot for them with skipjack and run jugs quite a bit. Hardly ever catch any flats until September rolls around. I know they are more apt to hit live bait as opposed to Blues and Channels and that’s not what I’m fishing with, but based on my experience Hevishot nailed it.

That’s kind of what I was scared of. It’s about over until the Fall. Thanks for the replies.
