SUCK!! Working on a survey today and didn't realize I was standing on a nest. Moved my foot and got swarmed. Nailed 16 times before I could get away. Spawns of satan is what they are!!

They catch flies but they hurt like hell. Best reason for buying a tractor with a cab, that and bumblebees

I had some get in a track hoe can with me once. Got hit 7 times before I got out of there. Left it running and everything Had to let them settle down for 45 minutes before I got back in and closed the windshield. Then I dug the nest up and smashed it with the bucket. Revenge is sweet.

I'm not allergic but 16 stings might cause an issue even if your not. If my oldest brother got hit that many times he would be in the hospital especially if in the head/neck area. I saw him get popped on the nose one time, he hit the ground with an almost instant nose bleed. Took a benedryl nap most of the afternoon to get over it and wasn't truly right until the next morning.

My 16 yr old ended up in the ER this week after 2 stings. Never had a reaction before but this one was bad. If local fire department had not hit him with epi pen I’m not sure what would have happened. He not happy at all with change of life style.

They come straight from the 3rd layer of hell.

My dad had a severe reaction to a single sting one time. Wound up in the hospital. I’ve never had a reaction other than being hurt and mad but I was told that you can develop an allergy to stings as you get older. I’m scared to death of them to be honest.

I havent seen a single YJ this summer which is weird because theyre usually everywhere around here
Dont take this as a complaint
Could be that all those fly traps I hung up around the house knocked them back so much they died off or left
Could be the hard freeze we had killed them too...the ground around here has a high moisture content and freezes deep

When I need expert advice I tend to talk to myself
The older I get the better I used to be

Wife accidentally found one while clearing a foodplot. They started pouring out of a hole in the ground. We emptied two cans of wasp spray and a few were still coming out.

Them suckers will follow you a long ways just to sting you.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned-and a yellow jacket mad at you!

I find several nests doing lawns every summer. I’ve destroyed two so far this year. Both in the last month. Haven’t been stung yet this season which is odd but welcome. Worst I’ve ever gotten was 34 stings we could count. I was cutting a clump of nandina down and they were nested in the middle of it. I was leaning over and standing in the clump. I work in a tee shirt and swim trunks most days. Had several go up my shorts and sting me in places… oh God. I’m not sure what hurt more, the stings or my reaction trying to stop them from stinging.
