Screw 2 strokes for anything that's not emergency use or firewood. Weedeater/pole saw/blower work around the house has gone to the 40V the last 3 years. I even converted my oldest brother after he borrowed my pole saw because both of his two strokes were down. I'll never go back.

My echo and my parent's echo are 7 or 8 years old. Two different models and both run perfectly. You're either really unlucky or you're doing something wrong.

Tru- Fuel is Your friend when it comes to weed eaters and small engines. Tru- Fuel is very costly but to me it is worth that cost because it has eliminated the fuel and cranking troubles I have had in past using regular gasoline.

I have a troy-bilt that is probably 12 years old that I can go out right now, put some gas/oil in it and it'll probably fire right up (it's never failed to start up but i haven't used it this year yet). Changed the fuel lines and primer bulb a few times but other than that it's given me no issues at all

I got about 8-9 years a husqvarna combi ldx128 it still runs as strong as the day I bought it. I agree with others, run the premix, never had a problem out of it.

My husky has been running like a Swiss watch for 10 years. Same as my blower, hedge trimmer, pole saw, chain saws, etc. Fuel stabilizer is your friend people. Buy the oil with fuel stabilizer added. As far as not firing, easy fix. Hell it’s a one cylinder two stroke.

I went to battery a couple of years ago. Walk behind mower, string trimmer/edger, hedge trimer, blower and chainsaw. Felt like a communist after buying it all, plus I missed my hands vibrating hours after using it. So I reverted back to my gas powered equipment. It's just something about having to work on chit when you don't have the time to do so that I really missed. Plus the noise and fumes.

As you can see from all the comments on here stihl is or was a good product. I work on saw an weed eaters all the time . Stay away from the newer stihls that don t have carb. Junk . Have take to dealer to adjust by lap top. Junk . They have a c beside the model number on the side . Best saw over made was the 44 magnum. The 38 an 28 farm boss was good too. All saws need a better air filter system. Keep good gas an clean filter Everytime you use it will last long time . The best weed eater is the 250 2 stroke . We put saw heads on them to trim up in woods . Kinda heavy but strong . The 4 strokes stihl are junk also. We use the 250 every day . Last us us few years with every day use .

If you buy the homeowner version of Stihl or Husqvarna or if you go down to Home Depot and purchase a John Deere riding lawnmower......

I'm warning you right here that you are buying a total POS.

Do not buy it.

If you cannot afford their "Professional" models walk away and get a Echo or something else instead. The Homeowner version of any of these supposedly name brand power tools is not worth the money. It doesn't matter who makes it. They are 100% junk.

I have an Echo that was my grandfathers weed eater and he has been gone for 9 years now. It has to be 15 years old and you can't break it. It is truly the best weed eater I have ever had.

ECHO here also....I believe it is 12 years old. Only thing I've ever done to it is change the Fuel Bubble. Cranks every Spring with no problems. Ethanol gas burns HOTTER than non-ethanol which will prematurely cause the engine to wear out. Not to mention it "Breaks Down" quicker and thus Gums up the Carburetor and/or eats up gaskets, fuel lines, primer bulb.

I have a stihl weedeater thats the 4 stroke but uses 2 stroke oil, and its a beast. I have a Husqvarna edger that is old and runs like a top and a dude gave me a stihl gas powered blower he couldn't get to crank and it runs like a top too.

I use pure gas and only run Evinrude XD100 2 stroke oil in mine. That stuff burns so clean it will clean deposits off the inside of a prop on 2 stroke outboard.

I weedeat 20 yards every week with an Echo 2620. I'm on my 3rd year using it commercially and it's not slowing down. I'm on a couple of FB lawncare groups and Stihl seems to have lost their edge on reliability.

Use the proper fuel in them, premixed, and you never have an issue. Mine has a fitting on the back that allows me to use a drill to crank it. Came in handy after shoulder surgery. Cranks right up every time. The drill forces the issue and takes all the hard work out of it.
