Ain’t none of them worth a sh!t. I’ve had the cheapos and I’ve had the high dollar commercial name brands. 2-3 years at the most is what I believe you’ll get out of them. Might as well buy the cheapest one on the shelf, which right now looks like it’s going to be a battery powered one.

my 40v Kobalt is roughly 5yrs old and is still going strong...we live on a half-acre lot in a subdivision but lived on 2.5 acres for a year and a half so it hasn't been babied by any means. Battery still holds a charge like the day I bought it.
I also have the 40v leaf blower and pole saw. Each came with their own battery and charger, but I rarely need more than 1 battery...I can do all my edging/weedeating then pop the battery out and put it in the leaf blower and blow off the driveway, curbs and sidewalk....all on a single 3ah battery. I try to use a different battery each time just to keep them all in a regular rotation.

If you buy a Stihl and it doesn’t last you 5-10 years for residential use you are doing something wrong. This. I've swapped to battery (Makita) due to it being MUCH easier on my back. It is a 2 battery model and lasts about 2 hrs on level 2 (mid-range output) and about an hour on level 3 (high output) and uses the same string as my big Stihl. All but the heaviest grasses are easily done on level 2, so I can get around the house on a full charge and swap batteries for the fence line (encloses about an acre) to make sure I don't run out of juice before done.

I have an echo purchased 2010. Starts every time and does gets heavy use at my farm. It came with a six year residential warranty and had to have something fixed on it at year 5 for free. But it is a weed eater/brush cutter model so not cheap but I own both Stihl and Echo products and both do well with ethanol free gas. I am also not good at winterizing and that makes little difference so far.

The left lane is for the the purpose of moving the flow of traffic forward regardless of the speed limit. If your impeding the flow of traffic get your ass in the right lane. It's really that simple...

My dad has a 22 year old red max I bought him for Father’s Day and it’s worked pretty hard on the ditch that runs parallel to the road and down the edge of there 10 acre property. I would say used much more than regular residential use, but not as much as commercial use would be

I've had my Stihl Kombi Motor KM 111R for about 7 years now and it's a beast that's still running like a champ. I have the trimmer, edger, pole saw and mini cultivator attachments for it and it gets used a lot. Not a much as a pro, but far more than a typical homeowner.

Spend the money and buy TruFuel pre-mix. If your think the tool os not going to be use for a while, pour fuel back into can, crank and let run till it sputters out.

I'm on year 13 with my Echo power head and it still runs great. Weed Eater, Edger, Blower, Pole Saw... It gets used alot.

I’ve been running a Husqvarna commercial model. I buy the premix Husqvarna fuel. This is only the third season with it. I always run it empty at the end of the season or pour out the fuel. Started this season running fine then started stalling and dying out after a little bit of running. Then got really hard to start. Signs of a bad plug. I changed plug and ended up figuring out it isn’t getting spark at all. I’m only cutting about 3/4 acre and take good care of my equipment making sure to clean it up after every use and don’t throw it around in back of a truck or trailer. This was the whole reason I broke down and bought a commercial grade, hoping it would last longer. Very frustrating

Echo and non ethanol gas is tough to beat. I love mine. Pump bulb, choke it, pull twice, off choke, go to work,

I’ve got an echo that’s at least 7 years old. 4 of those were commercial rest are heavy residential use. Only use the echo oil and non ethanol gas in it. Starts and runs like a top.

I’ve got 2 stihl weed eaters, a stihl blower and a chainsaw that are all 20 years old and crank and run like new
Got one stihl weed eater that’s almost 40 years old that cranks and runs like new and an echo edger that’s 25 years old that runs perfect.
