The Athens to Huntsville commute would be a nightmare. No to mention the number of wrecks that occur during rush hours. Yep that drive sucks. Wrecks all the time. Wife and I were hit head on two years ago by a driver on drugs on the drive from huntsville to Ardmore. I would recommend stayin there in Huntsville for nightlife purposes/hanging out with friends as well

SAIC is where he’s going to work. Not sure on budget. He’ll be making $55,000 a year. Car is paid for so he doesn’t have a car payment. Student loans are about $400 a month. with all the traffic he might be best served to find something close likeThe Reserve, for cheaper appartments look at Old madison pike rd.

Live in Athens and commute to Huntsville is my advice. Rent would be cheaper and the commute isn’t bad depending on which part of huntsville he’s going to be working in. Also as others stated avoid north huntsville and anything east of research park. Madison city limits is going to be expensive however just outside the any of the city limits would be the places I would recommend. Send me a message if you would like more particular details. This is excellent advice. Not a fan of Decatur either.

The Athens to Huntsville commute would be a nightmare. No to mention the number of wrecks that occur during rush hours. The west side of Madison to Research Park commute ain't gonna be fun either. No good way to get to/from there during high-traffic times.

The Athens to Huntsville commute would be a nightmare. No to mention the number of wrecks that occur during rush hours. That's what I was fixing to say. You lost your mind if you're thinking about driving from Huntsville to Athens. Use to take minimum 20 minutes now it's an hour or more. I live in south and it would take a long time on rush hour..ain't no way. Price of gas and time, your losing if you live in the country these days. I'm a 42yr native and worked all over town and went to several public schools growing up. This town is ruined compared to what it use to be. In the last 4yrs, living places have doubled in cost. They keep jacking property taxes up on us each year. The roads are overcrowded now. The fastfood is too busy at rush hour. Walmarts shelf's are out of stock if you go on a Sunday evening. Having said that, there is a lot of opportunities here for business owners and employment. I'd stay south Huntsville or Madison. Anything north of Huntsville, west of Huntsville, or east of Huntsville is a traffic jam everyday.

FYI, the complex my son lives in that I mentioned earlier is obviously not terribly expensive or he and his roomie wouldn't be living there and it is close to Research Pkwy. There is plenty of rush hour traffic though just about anywhere except in my neighborhood.
