listen, someone brings up high fence and they are burned at the stake. i don't care one way or another if somebody owns 1000 acres with a fence or without a fence. just because somebody puts a fence up doesn't tell you his hunting habits and beliefs. to all the haters, he could be gun hunting in blue jeans and penny loafers set up on a feeder while the guy he pays 50k a year to take care of the place rides around and stirs up the deer. OR it might be a bowhunting fanatic, like me, who just likes to be in control of his property. spending countless hours preparing his land to produce the biggest baddest bucks he can and meticulously hanging the right set, glassing, patterning, and aging his herd.. in order to harvest a deer that he has watched for the last 5 years turn from a basket 6 to 150" 10.
that guy seems pretty awesome in my book, the first guy sucks.. my point is the fence doesn't define the hunter
it does just a little...even hunter #2 isn't willing to put up with ALL the limitations and adversities that one must deal with in a free ranging deer. Not saying your a bad hunter or bad outdoorsman if you fence your farm and maintain a native herd, but killing a 150 in that situation still isn't the same as improving habitat on free ranging property and killing a 150 off of it, IMO.
