We have an 05 Tahoe...320000+ miles on the original transmission fluid

If it ain't under warranty, no reason at all to spend that money at the dealership. Take it to a transmission shop and it probably would have been 1/2 that

I changed the transmission fluid in my sons 2010 frontier when we got it. New Vs old LOOK was amazing.
Changed it in my daughters 2015 cvt accord transmission, same deal. Glad I did
Measure what you drain out and add the same amount back. Picking the correct fluid was the hardest part imo.

Never have had the transmission fluid changed on anything I've ever driven. Only one transmission went out and that was my 15 GMC Sierra. Turns out it was a standard feature on those units.

I have a Jeep, Ford and Chevy all with over 220k and no fluid changes here either.. many moons ago when I was a mechanic at several different dealerships it was the same way...if the fluid and filter hadn't been changed around the 75-100k mark we didn't fool with them due to the chance of making them worse...

It seemed to help, but still had a little bit of chatter. I happened to be on here and saw where folks recommended a synthetic transmission additive along with new fluid. So at 195k, I changed the fluid again along with an additive I got off Amazon and no more chatter.

I used Valvoline synthetic ATF. It was "approved" by Toyota.

So you used the Valvoline synthetic and an additive? I’m doing mine this weekend due to a shudder.
