Danner pronghorns are $270 and made in China. Buy American made danners and they are $400 to $500. You don't need the elk boots that Crispi sells for around here, their lightest style works fine and are barely more than pronghorns

Bud I hunted plains game in Namibia last year for over a week, and the whole time I wore Russell PHs (like crepe soled ankle high Clark's Wallabies). In most places the grass was waist high, since they'd recently had some unusual rains. Let's just say I'm glad I didn't look up the wikipedia article on venomous snakes of Namibia until I got back home!

For you all that wear gaiters, what are the specs required for the boots you are wearing to feel confident they are snake proof?

When I wear them, my turtle skins go over my Lacrosse Grange boots. They cover the top of the foot, ankle and calf. I feel 100% confident in them.

You can order them from Black Ovis (order 2 sizes) and return one unworn. Were them in the house with socks you will be hunting in and realize you may want a insole specifically for your foot.
I've got the Neveda 8-9" uninsulated with hopes of returning out west to flyfish, hike and hunt with adult son. They are alot moe comforable than my Danners and waterproofness is good so far.

Thanks treelimb I will only use them for hiking/ turkey hunting so spending $400 on a pair is nothing if I can get 4-5 seasons out of them

I'd like to know what conditions y'all are in that boots leak, come apart, separate or otherwise don't work after just 1-2 seasons. Unless you're in volcanic rock or have chitty boots, they shouldn't do that in such short order.

Another vote for Turtleskin gaitors.

All the high dollar boot companies do free shipping and return. I have a hard time finding boots that fit. Last go round I tried three different brands until I landed on Crispi. Really wish Meindl had fit. Those are some quality built boots, but oh well.

$400 boots cost same or less than $100 boots because they last.

Ive had a pair of their chaps since the really nineties. Don't know how you'd wear them out.

I've got a pair of Rattlers Brand chaps from the late 90s also. I bought them at Wiley's in Huntsville during one of their Rattlers Brand exhibition snake shows. Suckers are hot but still in good shape. My next pair will be Turtle Skins though.

I picked up a pair of camo hay duds couple weeks ago, they are great in dry days. Quiet and light!

So, the 8" boots won't keep you dry when crossing a creek. What are y'all doing in that scenario? The property I hunt has a creek that ranges from 1-2', and Mi have to cross it multiple times during the day. A crispi won't help me there.

Rubber is your only solution imo. I’ve never had a leather boot or anything other than rubber keep it’s waterproofing long.
