I have a Retay 20ga that I bought a couple years ago that I am just now starting to get set up. I got side tracked by .410's.

Anyhow, the factory rail is too high. Would you go with the Sumtoy rail or the Meadow Creek rib mount?

Sumtoy sent me the wrong mount for my Retay and never would send me the correct one after several messages saying he would make it right.

The sumtoy is much lower than a rail and pic mount. I like the sight mounted as far back as possible. It makes you see less of the sight and its more like just a dot floating out there, so I wouldn't want it mounted on the rib. I have a speed bead on my 870 that I prefer to having it mounted up top.

My vote is Sumtoy. Posted this the other day in another thread, maybe it'll help.
Top mount is the Burris 336, middle is a Sumtoy mount, Picatinny( /Weaver? Idk) on the bottom

Sumtoy. The Meadow Creek thing precariously attached to the vent rib just seems gadgety, and the look is unattractive to me.

The sumtoy is a cleaner look, but I like it as low as possible, so the marlin 336 for me

I have the 336 and sumtoy. I prefer the 336 on guns that have to be drilled and tapped. On pretapped guns the sumtoy is the go to.

Mainly a question here, but why do more folks not use the burris speed bead? I dont have any experience with sumtoy or meadow creek mounts but i have put a speed bead on my sbe1 12 ga and on my m2 20ga and both have performed well for me. I have read where some say they are flimsy but both of mine have been rock solid. Maybe different brand shotguns require a little different design and that is where some of the problems come from? Again, im not saying its better than any of the others. Just curious as to why it is almost never brought up?

Mine was a little flimsy on my 870, so I bedded it to the stock with bedding compound.

Speed Bead is often reported to move around. Fine for open choke, but not for turkey choke. That's what they say anyhow. I was never interested in finding out firsthand because I don't want my sight mounted that low for shooting turkeys.

SumToy can be mounted on the rib. I my rib drilled and tapped and a matching slot cut in the mount. I bedded it to the rib after I got it back. The Fastfire I have on there is kinda crunched from falling directly on a rock. Never have lost zero.
