As I recall, Sherrif Buford Pusser had a hand in shutting down illicit activities along the TN/MS border.
Rumor was some operations then relocated to Jasper and Walker County in the late sixties and early seventies. Rumored that the Mayor of Oxford back in the day was a refugee from that as well. Can't remember his name, but I'll give him props for making Oxford more than a quick exit off 20. I won’t say how I know.. but he told that story to a fella I know.. his words were THD SHERIFF RUN US OUT FROM UP THERE.. DIXIE MAFIA IS REAL
