It hurts. Mine was in my arms when Dr delivered the shot. Had him 12 years and his last year the quality of life was just not there. I cried like a baby while covering him up, but knew I did the right thing. This is just one thing that makes a man a man. IMO.

Thanks everyone. I had no problem taking my 22 out back to end his suffering, it was bad but, I had a knee replacement 07 March so, carrying Bama out though the back yard in such a struggling manner really sucked. Digging a hole left footed is not fun either. It was cold and rainy just like the days we hunted together. A new pups gonna have to wait, gonna do more hunting in other States I believe. Thanks again

Had put down my lab last Thursday’s night . Born in backyard . 11 years old . I know the the feeling . Heart failure an i couldn t stand see him suffering no more . Took him to emergency vet . Me a wife sat with him the whole time . Me an him had a connection an i knew he was ready to go. Sometimes you can just tell. I built him a coffin out of cedar an a marker for his grave . I have 4 dogs buried in my cemetery. Miss him really bad . I have his son an a basset hound at home but that dog was special

Man that’s tough!!! I care more about my dog then I do for most people. I know you’re the same way!! As Doc said cherish the memories and get another puppy and start making new memories

Lord knows that my heart hurts for you.
That is the only bad thing I can think of about owning a dog.
The day that comes that you have to give them up.
I know that one day I'll have to face that and I don't even like thinking of it.
My prayers is for God to give you comfort in your heart and soul.
