IMO…there’s no such thing as a gun that’s too nice or has too much sentimental value to shoot or hunt with. They’re all born to go bang and I’ve made it my mission in life to deflower as many “safe queens” as possible.

I’ve got a Remington 1100 and a Remington Model 11 that belonged to my grandfather. I also have a Revelations Model 400 which is a variant of the Savage/Stevens 745 that my grandfather and great-grandfather owned. Killed my first deer with it. It and the Model 11 are Browning A5 clones. Neither is worth very much, but if I had to get rid of all my guns, those 3 would be the last to go. I hardly do any hunting with a shotgun, so I never use them. I get them out of the safe every few months and admire them and wipe them down.

I have a bunch of guns that I just don’t shoot much anymore but two that may be considered safe queens are a Huglu over and under 12 and a nickel plated Bar chambered in’06

My 2 Cents....ALL Guns were mean't to be Used. I own all of the Belgium A5's and they have various Blemishes in the wood from use. A couple are Silver on the grip metal from use.But all were rubbed down with an oily rag after hunting. Those Blemishes are "Character" the same as the Old Dresser and the Wooden Bed Your GrandFolks Owned.

I saw hallb's post and it got me to thinking about it. Mine is my Granddaddy's Browning Auto 5 Light 12 vent Belgium made. With my grandmothers social security number that she scrolled/horribly etched into the metal behind the trigger.
She thought that her social security number would get the shotgun back to her if it ever got stolen. It was different times, but not that different. That shotgun means more to me because of her social security number. It would be an 8 out of 10 if it were not for that. I'll take the that! Somewhere floating around there is a Remington 760 floating around with my dad's SS# scratched into one of the slide arms, best I can remember. It was stolen in 1998 and it hasn't helped us get it back.

I think I caught him one day experimenting with drugs or he had a bad fever! Maybe even malaria! Because he sold me the prettiest model 70 in .338 Winchester! I know he would love it back but I am extremely grateful for his temporary dementia! It will be a safe queen at my house. I know why he sold it though. After about 5 shots through it, you know you been shooting!

None are safe queens but I have a couple that get handled with kid gloves. Two were custom guns made for my father by a man named Graham Bostick who was a friend of my father.
One is a 35 Whelen AI built on an Interarms Mark X action with a beautiful fiddleback walnut stock.
The other is a 300 Winchester Magnum built on a 1948 M70 Winchester action. The wood is an incredible feather crotch walnut that is as sleek and slim as I've ever handled. You can't get a stock that fits like this on any factory rifle. My father took this gun on an African safari and it was a special moment for me when I shot a deer with it several years after he died. AU338, Graham Bostick was the man that first showed me how to reload! Great man with with many great guns. I don’t have any safe queens but plenty of guns I don’t shoot often enough.

I don't believe in safe queens, but I've got a few my step father built that I have never shot, but intend to one day. All extremely fine firearms. Here's one of them. It's an original 1885 Low Wall action, green mountain bbl chambered in 22LR, custom stock made from a stick of circassian walnut, from Cecil Fredi, to allow for use of a scope checkered in point pattern with mullered borders (24 LPI).
