Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.
My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

Upper 30’s, wind about 20 mph. Silent this morning. My first yelp, hen answered. Within 2 minutes a Coyote walked out on us about 7 yards to our 8:00. Junior click the safety off and yote took off running. Didn’t get a shot on yote. Didn’t hear a gobbler.

Well we slept in thinking it was gonna be howling wind. Got out of the house at 6:45 to listen for a minute before running to the club. Thanks to the new neighbor who’s a dog hoarder we couldn’t hear one of it gobbled. Took off to the club stopping to get gas and breakfast in no rush. We finally made it there about the time the wind actually started picking up. After checking one field we walked 4-500 yds and up on this big ridge. Almost to the top we found fresh scratching so I felt a little better about the morning. We got to the top and I yelped a little and cut one time on the slate and he hammered over the ridge. We found pines with a good view real quick and sat down. Luckily Stephen had his face mask on his neck and gloves on already. Before I could get my gloves or mouth call in a hen walks over the hill at 30 yds. Within a few minutes two more joined her and I figured we were busted. They stood around clucking and looking while we could hear him drumming over the hill. After what felt like ten minutes Stephen said left. The gobbler was 30 yds to the left of the hens in full strut on the finger of the ridge no telling how long he had been there. Stephen asked if he was in range and I told him around 50 and to shoot as soon as he could. He finally cleared some limbs for him and ran that neck up and the federal 9s sent him flopping. How we didn’t get busted I have no idea cause we were pretty open to the hens. 9 3/4” beard and just under a inch spurs. Great way to start the season. //postimg.cc/s12rBzdf] ![[Linked Image]](https://i.postimg.cc/9XdFnXL9/5910-BE62-4476-416-F-ADF5-546197-DB5-E8-A.jpg) [/url] postimg.cc/QKVGvQkK] ![[Linked Image]](https://i.postimg.cc/hv1DzMXs/EB17-A3-A1-238-A-42-CB-9-C3-F-8633862-D32-C7.jpg) [/url]

Congrats to the killers this morning. We had a really exciting hunt, had 3 longbeards inside 25 yards for several minutes. Just couldn't make it all come together for the nephew this morning. He was super excited! Maybe better results next time.

We got close. He was at 75 yards, but wouldn’t break away from his hens.

GomerJr got close but we couldn’t seal the deal. Called in a pair of jakes and he had them at about 35yds with the safety off but couldn’t get a clear shot. It was thick. They wandered off and we made a move and I got them to within about 80 but no more. Eventually left for good. I was sitting against a tree with him sitting between my legs and he was shaking so hard I thought he was about to piss on himself. I don’t think I’ll ever have to worry about him doing drugs because he’ll never find something that will match that. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/4xLJMNh.jpg)

Good try Gomer. Bet he had a heck of a time I told him it took me 6 full seasons to kill my first and if he wants to kill faster he should probably find a better guide He said it was one of the most fun things he’s done and all he heard was a hen and a couple jakes clucking. Can’t wait for him to get a ground shaking gobble up close and in his face.
