Heather used to have some serious FL strain studs. Teen type fish. Someone put spots in there years ago and they’ve crossed With the Florida’s. Lots of solid fish and some magnum spots but IMO, the really big fish just are not there anymore. Plenty of 3-7 pound fish. Deep water and lots of shad in there. Usually a wait list to get on the list to get a permit. May be wrong but I think it’s limited to like 200 permits a year. A lot of the lakes in that area near the Cahaba have a strong natural spot population Heathers spots came from Lay lake
