I've never raised any "sugar" cane. My granddaddy grew just enough for us to have some to chew on. I see you can root it or start from seed. What do I need to know to grow me some? Any body got a cane I can root?

Ribbon cane you can lay the entire stalk in a trench in the row and cover it up.

I planted a small patch in the fall. Should be about to sprout. Not sure where you could find any cane to plant this time of year. I wouldn't think dried out cane from last year would germinate.

Get some this fall, lay in the ground 4” and each join should sprout a shoot.
Guy here locally has it every year, and makes syrup. It’s delicious!

I ordered some from Florida. Got it in a bucket trying to sprout it. Now I'm wondering if it will come back next year if I cut it off at the ground this fall. I don't remember it doing that when I was a kid so I might be wrong.Guess it just depends on how cold it gets over the winter.
