A very good friend of mine had a hunt you dream of, but an ending you have nightmares about...almost!
Here is what happened....
Let me start by saying, my old highschool and life long buddy has been bowhunting for about 3-4 years now without killing a deer. Yes he has had some opportunities, but just had not closed the deal. Two Saturdays ago he climbed up a tree, no stand, just limbs, and is watching what we call the "house plot". This is a small plot located about 400 yards behind our camphouse, and up until 2 years ago when the timber was cut, had an early 1900's house in the middle of it. The timber crew pushed the house into a pile, still dont know why but they did. Anyway, back to the story... he has been sitting in the plot for about an hour or so and hears some people banging on a house which is located across the property line about 700 yards. Shortly after they start, he can hear the deer running and turns to see a bunch of deer jumping the fence and coming into the cutover surrounding the food plot he is sitting in. There atleast 2 racks in the bunch. The deer start moving through the cutover and headed toward the hardwoods, away from the plot. He catches movement and one of the bucks has turned and heads straight to the plot, and eventually comes into the plot and 20 yards from his tree. He gets turned in the tree, standing on a limb, and takes the shot. The buck heads back across the fence in the direction that the deer originally came from. After waiting ti dark and gathering my brother(highclimber08) and a friend(rookee), the search for and find a good bit of blood. After about 100 yards and finding the broken arrow, they lose the blood. He returned the next morning and with the help of my Dad, Baker, and a couple others, look again for 3 hours. NOTHING! Now the plot thickens....my brother had passed a truck pulling a trailer with a tripod and a big deer on the back! Another person then tells them that big deer is laying in the ditch just up the road with its head cut off. Here is wher another aldeer member comes to the rescue. We decide to call Shane(baitstop), figuring since he knows everyone in the Orrville area, he may can help us out. And he did! He made a few calls and within a day or so found out that the nephew of the man that owns the land that the deer ran on to, had found a 10 pt that had been shot with a bow and cut the head off! My friend then contacted the nephew and convinced him to return the horns! The head had been taken to a local taxidermist to have a European mount done on it. In the end, my friend has his first bow kill, a nice 10 point that will score about 125! A great ending to what could have been a bad memory! Shane... many thanks to you my friend for helping us out when you did't have to, you made one bowhunter very happy!

Ahhh don't post BS like I'm a good guy,I'm the SOB and please remember that! LOL Rookee I'll take that hunt whenever,I might be swapping jobs here real quick so it might wrap up my season.  At least my new job will include hunting I just want be able to go much on my lease I worked so hard to keep..But it could turn into something real promising.
