I wanting to get into trapping what’s the best traps for coons and such and coyotes. We used to have a little formula that would kill everything that ate it but over the years it has been used up. What’s you guy’s opinion

Dog proof traps for coons, I just use cheap car food and mix it with some fish oil in a bottle (milk jug or OJ bottle). I also have started painting my traps white, I have set double sets and caught on the white trap more then the green ones this year.

I’ve only used the duke brand dp’s for coons, I’m sure any of them will work and about anything you put in em should catch some but the dry cat food is pretty simple. As far as coyotes I’m using the mb 550 offset jaws and duke 650’s, still learning on these and those are the only ones I have experience with.

DP's as noted earlier. For predators-any of the traps with the rod style dogs, either MB 550 or Duke Pro series, less tinkering with pan adjustments. For a dogless trap the Bridger #2 is the most economical but sometimes requires pan adjustment to get the pan to lay flat. No-BS K9 Extremes or Jrs are good to go out of the box, but cost more. The MB Alpha is a new dogless but I haven't put my hands on one.

When it comes to trapping dogs I let the area and the ground dictate what kind of set I’ll use
There are many YouTube videos on this and how to make your sets

With coons about any brand trap will work, coyotes are a different matter. They will test your gear to the max. If you get Duke traps I would get a #3 minimum and change out the chains and swivels. I run MB450, MB550 and fully modified dogless #2 Bridgers (probably my favorite).
