Clubs need to do the close open thing. Restrictions, rules……..If that suits the President of it. WMA you’ll hunt when allowed and follow those rules Leave private land alone we manage just fine with out being told what to do.

Yes, I was gonna wait until the season was over but I can make one.......There's still many counties in south Alabama running 75% ish of last year's totals......Dallas Co is actually at 67%

So I went ahead and made two maps comparing our numbers to last year and the year before last. Right now we are sitting at 166,835 deer reported to GC……That’s compared to 186,499 last year and 195,162 the year before. We still have 10 days to go though so it will still change some.

This is our current numbers compared to last years……

Baiting being legalized......It likely caused a spike in the number of deer being killed initially but is now being followed by a decline because we've probably lowered the overall population.

Makes sense. I just personally have not noticed a huge difference. We picked up a second lease this year. We shot 2 bucks on our Macon county lease and 4 off of our new lease in Pike county, No does off of either property. There is one more weekend of season left so that could change, but only 1 guy is going to be hunting next weekend.

I will say I do like your proposed season dates for zone B. Only thing I would change is make the first gun the Saturday before Thanksgiving- Nov. 30. I have personally chosen not to hunt during the month of December and have tried to convince the other members to do the same. I did not do much hunting at the beginning of season. I took off January 18-February 2nd and it was the best decision I've made. I saw deer every sit. I killed 2 bucks, one good 7 point and one 9 point that I should have let walk. I saw more bucks on their feet cruising than any other season. I believe this is how I am going to do it from here on out, take the last 2 weeks of January off for hunting, and not hunt in December. I'll still bow hunt during October and November. I'll also hunt opening weekend of gun season just because it is tradition.

Just because the state sets seasons doesn't mean you have to hunt all those days. A club can shut down at any time during these dates. Me personally, I think in this part of Alabama bow season should start Nov 20 and gun on Jan 1.

I wish some of you season restriction guys would move to Mississippi. Our season is fine as it is. You can set your own personal season if you like and hunt whenever and however you want.

Correct and I don't even live there. Week here for gun, then primitive, etc. No thanks.
It is really simple. Less pressure equals a better chance at a good buck. Cameras show daylight sightings down after the season starts even when we had not accessed large areas of land.

I don't need the state to tell me to limit my access.

Ahhhh the old days when doe season came in the day after Christmas. It was like Christmas Day all over again. Season closed Jan. 31.

On my lease in bullock I used this year as a learning year. I took 1 buck and shot at another. We hunted it fairly regularly. I saw as many as 16 does at a sit. The minimum deer I’ve ever saw was 7. I did take a guest that just saw a lone deer. That being said, I know I have too many does on my spot. Next year I may take some folks and just have a “doe blow” day and kill about 5 off the place.
No way all my does are getting bred 1st or 2nd cycle. This pic was taken in April last year. Y’all can do the math on when the doe was bred

That'll change for Dallas and Wilcox after this past weekend's number are posted, based on what I saw on trucks and piled up about 3' high on the processor's floor. Do the kill totals update automatically as soon as you hit send on the chuckie app?

I'm pretty sure it updates in real time. That map is including last weekend's kills
