I used to use Purolator filters in all my vehicles. I stopped when I had a discussion with an Advance Auto guy that said they had a bunch of issues with them.
GM vehicle-AC Delco & Valvoline semi-synthetic
Hyundai-Factory Hyundai filter (there are tons of threads telling do not use aftermarket on the 3.3 motors). Full synthetic oil per mfg.
Dodge Ram 5.7-Mopar filter & semi-synthetic Valvoline.
I remember years ago when Ford came out with the 5.4 3-valve motor. After about 4-6 years, the motors were locking up left and right. I was at ADESA in Decatur trying to buy a 2008 4x4 Lariat that was hit easy in front for my personal truck. Guy beside of me blew me out of the water and I even went $500 above what I wanted to give. I aksed him later in the auction if he wanted to make a quick $200 and not even touch the truck. He gave $3500 for truck and sale fee. He told me he already had the motor sold for $4500. I was shocked. He said that people were going to quick oil changes and not using the recommended weight oil and the motors were locking up.
This is the motor I had to replace. Will not buy another Ford for this reason alone
