What are y’all using? I’ve been using Wix and Mobil 1 full synthetic for probably 10 years.

But I am not a mechanic by any measure. Any brands y’all like/dislike? Reasons?

I just use napa n john deere on stuff... it may not be the best but if u change it regularly I've never had a problem

I get Fram Ultra Synthetic. They cost a little more, but are good for 20,000 miles when used with synthetic oil. They are cheaper in the long run, and I only have to mess with the filter every other change.

I use Toyota on all our Toyotas . Always try to use AC on GM vehicles . Everything else including tractor and dozer get Wix or Baldwin.

I've been scared of Fram ever since a feller told me he did a oil change with one and it blew his engine up. Seems they forgot to punch the return holes in it and the oil couldn't circulate .

I've heard more than once NAPA gold filters are same as WIX.

Use Toyota filters on my Camry. AC on my Chevy and used motorcraft when I had a Ford. I wouldn’t use a Fram filter on any vehicle ever. I definitely wouldn’t let a fram stay on for 20,000 miles. But it ain’t my car.

But Wix makes a really good filter and I wouldn’t hesitate to use one.

I’ve driven and worked on European cars most of my life, so mine may be different but I primarily use Mann, Mahle, purflux or Amsoil. For American/Asian brands I usually use Wix(Napa), Denso, Beck Arnley or carquest premium,

Edit to add, I wouldn’t put a Fram on my vehicle if they were free (heck, I wouldn’t even do it if they paid me…)

I use Wix. NAPA gold is a wix but there’s no Napa close. Fram is garbage. Cut one open and see for yourself.

I've been using Fram for 20 years without issue, but I'll look into it. I don't run my vehicles hard, maybe that's why I've gotten away with it.

Sometimes getting away with it may just mean shortening the life on the back end. I dont know how many miles you usually put on your vehicles, if you’re trading in with 100-150k regularly it may not make a difference. I rarely get rid of a car before 200k, and have driven a few well over 250k, I went over 300k on one. I attribute a lot of this to regular oil changes with quality filters and synthetic oils. I also never go more than 7500k on an interval, even if the manufacturer interval is longer than that. I do 5000 on most.

I own Toyota's and I go to the dealer and buy Toyota filters. The price is comparable, and my powertrain is still under warranty. The last I bought for my Tacoma was about $6.50 a piece. Parts man said, if you buy 3, they are a buck less per each. For $5.50 a piece, that ain't bad.

Napa or Baldwin on everything from lawn mower to track loader and all vehicles from suv to semi.

When I had my 86 Monte Carlo, I used a Fram filter once. Changed oil and filter and fired it up and was checking for leaks. Oil was spraying from the filter gasket...I checked the old filter to make sure the gasket didn't come off; old filter still had the gasket. Pulled the new fram filter off and gasket had come unglued from the housing and rolled a bit. Haven't even picked up a Fram filter since then
