Having seen quite a few pieces of their work, I couldn’t agree more.

I have to be 110% honest that even though he is the student in this situation, I like Chris McCarver’s deer mounts I have more than I like the ones I have from Stan. It seems he has now reversed course on these things in his latest mounts (Hevi’s looks amazing), but I’m just not fan of the form/touch Stan would put on mounts where there were over-exaggerated definition lines on the jaws. Just doesn’t look natural enough to me. Stan also got to a point of over-exaggerating a buck’s “squint” in his eyes IMHO. Again, looks perfect on Hevi’s picture best I can tell. Me and my son have had 5 shoulder deer mounts done by Chris McCarver now, and as picky as I am, I can’t find a single thing I don’t like on any of em. How he captured what I wanted on my Campbell deer, after what a fiasco it was, was absolute perfection. Granted, the replacement cape I searched high and low and eventually found was the biggest factor, but Chris still nailed it.

I agreed Juggy, Chris mounts a great deer, I have 5 or 6 of his. The op didn't say what he wanted mounted. I rank Stan the best in these parts and just about anywhere else on whatever comes through the door no matter what continent it comes from.

"Why do you ask"?

Too many people spend money they don't have , on things they don't need, to impress people they don't know.
